Old Thornleigh Hospital - Motion

Vivienne Parsons raised an issue regarding the old Thornleigh Hospital located near the Thornleigh shopping plaza.

The area has been rezoned for 5 storey units (in 2016). The building was formerly used as a hospital for women. Janelle McIntosh is on the Heritage Committee for Hornsby Council and has become involved.

Pennant Hills Branch is concerned about the further eroding of local heritage sites , in particular the cottage in Bellview Street Thornleigh which was built as a women’s hospital, and is now at risk of demolition to be replaced by a five storey block of units.

Thornleigh already has a surfeit of recently built units which cannot be sold, but has little of its original village heritage remaining. We wish to support the efforts of the Hornsby Council Heritage Committee in seeking to preserve this building.

Since the meeting there was an update from Hornsby Council
